Rooms at the Hawaiian Inn are individually owned, so while some have a bright and pleasant modern look, others are tired, dated, and are due for an update. Some rooms have furnished balconies with ocean views. Bathrooms are homey, with tile floors and shower/tub combos.

All rooms include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and full kitchens equipped with refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, coffeemakers, and cookware. This unit had a tropical-print bedspread, outdated traditional furniture, and a rattan table-and-chair set. However, the Deluxe Ocean Front Studio that we saw looked lifted straight out of the outdated suburban motels that line streets throughout Florida. Additions like the antiqued coffee table set in the suite was a nice touch. Both included an attractive blue-and-white color scheme with simple, but contemporary, furniture and cheery beach-inspired wall art. The Deluxe Ocean Front King Studio and the One-Bedroom Ocean Front Suite that we saw were in the "more modern" category. It's worth checking ahead with the hotel to make sure that you're getting what you pay for. It attracts a mix of families, couples, and friends. Overall, though interiors are due for a refresh and there's plenty of age-induced wear, the property offers a decent value, given its beachfront location.
Brick steps lead down to the flat, sandy beach. There's a poolside tiki bar next to an indoor restaurant that serves burgers and makes for a decent social scene in high season. Outside, the hotel has an Olympic-size beachside pool surrounded by lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas. Hallways are narrow and dated, with old carpeting and unattractive room doors. From the lobby, guests can access the gift shop and a breakfast cafe that’s open seasonally. While everything is bright and colorful, it all feels like a holdover from a much earlier decade. The five-story Hawaiian Inn has Pacific-Island decor throughout common areas, including in the lobby, where plantation fans, couches and chairs with floral print cushions, an island mural, and a tiki statue create a kitschy look.
